Through various efforts, Nissan aims to create safe and secure communities, contribute to the advancement of society, and help restore nature and ecosystems. In 2024, we launched the Nissan Green Program 2030 and Nissan Social Program 2030, setting key sustainability goals. This page highlights some of our key and recent initiatives.
Video series
We often hear the word ‘sustainability,’ but do we understand what it means?
To provide a simpler perspective of sustainability, we have created videos that explores various environment issues through the eyes of children, breaking down jargons and thinking about complex issues through simple discussions.

Initiatives around the world

Expanding the use of sustainable materials
With material use increasing by more than three times over the last 50 years (demand far outstripping our earth’s supply), it is essential that we step up efforts on conserving our natural resources. The impact is gradually becoming evident with global warming and climate change intensifying, along with economic effects, shortages and price hikes.
As a global automotive manufacturer, we know the impact we can make and are committed to making the most efficient use of the resources essential for vehicle production.
Ensuring a high level of product quality
At Nissan, we take great pride in our products and believe that automakers have an important responsibility to always offer customers the kind of quality they expect.
Ensuring the high requirements of quality means reviewing and pushing boundaries at every stage of the product and customer process, from planning of new vehicles through development, manufacturing, logistics and sales to aftersales service. Comprehensive testing is conducted throughout the development stage to ensure that final quality standards are met.
An example is how we test our cars for durability and performance even in the coldest of climates.

The impact of community engagement
Being part of and actively supporting the communities we live and operate in is important to Nissan. Beyond financial assistance, we are focused on providing learning opportunities to many local communities where we have physical presence, in around the globe.
The Nissan Skills Foundation in Sunderland, UK is one example of the engagement we do with students in the area, building and encouraging their curiosity and interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
Economist Impact research on sustainable mobility
As part of Nissan's ongoing efforts in electrification and commitment to sustainable solutions, we recently commissioned the Economist Impact to conduct a survey to assess the young generation's preferences and thoughts around mobility choices in our near future. Over 3,750 young audiences across 15 global cities participated and several notable findings revealed their intent and willingness to change travel habits to reduce carbon footprint.
