International cooperation through walking: sponsorship of Walk in Her Shoes (Japan)
To raise awareness of water resource issues and women's human rights issues in developing countries among employees, Nissan supports the Walk in Her Shoes campaign organized by Care International Japan and encourages its employees to participate. Donations are made based the number of steps taken by participants during the three-month campaign period — whenever they want and wherever they want — to support girls in developing countries who don’t receive a basic education because they must fetch water for their families.
In 2024, Nissan’s fourth year of participation, Nissan Trading Co., Ltd. and Nissan Creative Service Co., Ltd. became sponsors. A total of 814 employees, including those in affiliated companies, have participated in the campaign, which has been well received as a social contribution activity that promotes participants’ health.
Onigiri Action helps provide school lunches to children in developing countries in partnership with Nissan Serena (Japan)
Through its branding of the Nissan Serena, Nissan has participated as a top sponsor in Onigiri Action, a program run by the nonprofit organization TABLE FOR TWO International. The organization aims to help mitigate the global food imbalance by providing healthy school lunches to children in developing countries. Onigiri Action is a program in which five school lunches are donated to children in Africa and Asia each time a picture related to onigiri (rice balls) is posted on social media through the program.
Nissan has supported this program since 2018, believing TABLE FOR TWO’s philosophy is aligned with the Serena’s concept of “continuing to be a minivan for families that broadens the potential of children.” As a top sponsor of Onigiri Action related to the Serena, Nissan has donated 10 school lunches for every social media post — double the normal amount. We encouraged customers visiting Nissan showrooms nationwide to participate in the program and through these activities. In 2023, thanks to 322,300 posts, a total of 1,809,860 meals were delivered to children in Asia and Africa. In 2019, Onigiri Action received the SDGs Deputy-chief’s Award (by the Minister of Foreign Affairs) in recognition of its activities.

Nissan Fureai Road Race (Japan)
Since 2008, R&D divisions have been encouraging social contribution activities by all employees under the banner NICE WAVE Activity. As part of these activities, the Nissan Fureai Road Race has been held at the Nissan Technical Center (Atsugi City, Isehara City) since 2012. The theme of the marathon, in which the visually impaired participate with able-bodied runners, is "Let's run as fast as we can on a safe and spacious course" and the center is open to the community that day. Nissan held the 13th Nissan Fureai Road Race on March 21, 2024, with a total of 550 people participating. Sixty Nissan employees supported the event as volunteers.
Nissan Foundation support activities (United States, Australia and Canada)
Nissan also conducts its own initiatives by business operation sites and affiliates in each country to meet local needs. The Nissan Foundation, established in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Canada and other countries, has been conducting social contribution activities in various forms to help energize communities and resolve issues.
In the U.S., we support many communities through the Nissan Foundation, which funds educational programs encouraging people to value the cultural diversity that exists in American society. Established in 1992, the Nissan Foundation has contributed over $16 million to more than 150 nonprofit organizations across the country as of the end of March 2024. In fiscal 2023, the foundation donated $1.2 million to 39 U.S. organizations, supporting programs such as the Children's Museum of Manhattan, the Native American Indian Association of Tennessee and the Two Mississippi Museums.
Nissan Motor Australia (NMA) supports philanthropic activities through the Nissan Australia Foundation. Since fiscal 2017 it has supported small and medium-size Australian charitable organizations, helping to expand or continue their activities.
Nissan Canada (NCI) supports for education through the Nissan Canada Foundation. Since 2008, Nissan Foundation supports students at Georgian College who need financial aid. Georgian College has a specialized automotive program, and NCI has many interns and employees who graduated from there.
Club Impacto Positivo: Huella de carbono (Argentina)
We took the first step with our partner, Carbon Neutral+, in 2022. In 2023, we measured our corporate carbon footprint generated during 2022 and totally offset it through the acquisition of certificates that support renewable energy generation projects and by reforesting the Lanín National Park with NGO Asociación Amigos de la Patagonia. A total of 1,250 Araucaria araucanas trees (a local native tree) were planted through this activity.
