Pedestrian Protection Effort
Change in impact energy-absorbing structures
Currently, more than 90% of traffic accidents are caused by human error. Pedestrian fatalities in traffic accidents involving Nissan vehicles account for 44%. As part of our aim to achieve zero fatalities in traffic accidents involving Nissan vehicles, we are continually developing new safety technologies and improving features this includes vehicle structures optimized to absorb impact energy.

Impact energy-absorbing structures

- Impact-absorbing hinge structure: Structure deforms easily in an impact
- Impact-absorbing cowl structure: Structure deforms easily in an impact
- Break-away wiper structure: Wiper structure breaks away under a strong impact
- Impact-absorbing fender structure: Fender attachment points deform easily in an impact
- Impact-absorbing bumper structure: Energy absorbing material is incorporated in the bumper
- Impact-absorbing hood structure: Provides spacing between the hood and engine parts, and the inner frame structure of the hood deforms easily
