Intelligent Route Planner
Keep your travels on track by seamlessly connecting your car and smartphone with Google built-in
Nissan's Intelligent Route Planner uses Google Maps as its navigation system. It combines extensive map data with real-time vehicle information to help elevate journeys and keep drivers on optimized route to their destination.
By using the smartphone app, drivers can set their destination and air conditioning schedule in advance. When using Intelligent Route Planner, charging stations are suggested along the route, adding peace of mind and a more seamless journey. By synchronizing your Google account, saved locations and favorite destinations are added to the car's navigation system. This can make journeys smooth and stress-free from start to finish.
- A NissanConnect subscription is needed to use certain smartphone app functions such as setting the route destination or air conditioning scheduling.
How the technology works
Location search with up-to-date map information
Whether in the car or using the smartphone app, drivers can easily set their destination and can see the latest information such as business hours and location details. When syncing your Google account, saved routes and favorited locations can be easily accessed and displayed in the vehicle.
Optimized route planning based on extensive map and vehicle data
Intelligent Route Planner uses real-time traffic data to calculate and suggest the fastest destination routes.
When using Intelligent Route Planner, the system analyzes the vehicle's current battery state of charge (SOC) and predicts whether the EV can reach the destination without recharging. If recharging is required, it recommends charging facilities along the route, factors in the required charging time, and calculates the fastest route to the destination.
Smartphone app: Supporting seamless journeys
When using the smartphone app, drivers can schedule their destination, departure time and air-conditioning preferences, ensuring a quick, smooth, comfortable and seamless journey.

System mechanism
To determine the fastest possible route for EVs, accurately predicting the battery's SOC at arrival is essential. Nissan's Intelligent Route Planner accomplishes this using Google Maps data, real-time traffic speeds, road gradients and a proprietary energy consumption model developed from over 28 billion kilometers of Nissan EV data.
Based on this information, the system calculates power consumption from the powertrain, climate control and battery thermal management systems, enabling accurate predictions of remaining battery SOC upon arrival. When charging is required, the system plans the fastest route to the destination, factoring in charging time, and identifies the most suitable charging stations along the way, prioritizing high-output chargers.
