Intelligence sets the direction
At the heart of Nissan's mobility experience is a focus on intelligence, brought to life through AI-Drive and AI-Partner technologies that define Nissan's AI-defined vehicle. Built on the software-defined vehicles (SDV) foundation, AI allows cars to learn from context, adapt in real time, and respond naturally to everyday situations. Nissan's AI technologies redefine how people move, and how mobility integrates seamlessly into daily life.
The dawn of an era where AI defines the car
The car has long been something that moves according to human input or preprogrammed controls. Now, it is evolving to offer a safer, smoother, and more personal mobility experience.
Guided by its philosophy of 'the science of human behavior,' Nissan has continually advanced vehicle control, electrification, and driver assistance technologies grounded in the driver's sensory experience, building on initiatives such as the landmark 901 program, launched in the mid-1980s with the goal of achieving world-class dynamic performance by the 1990s.
The AI-defined vehicle (AIDV) is the next step on that journey. AIDV is a concept in which AI enables the car to perceive and interpret conditions both inside and outside the vehicle, achieving optimal behavior across driving and user experience. This is more than simply adding features, it is a reimagining of what a car is meant to be.
AI-Drive technology
Technology that enables the vehicle to perceive its surroundings while predicting conditions, making decisions, and driving accordingly. It is designed not only for highways, but for every type of road, including ordinary streets. It delivers a driving experience you can confidently leave to the car, just as you would trust a skilled human driver at the wheel.
AI-Partner technology
Technology that understands the intentions and circumstances of drivers and passengers and uses that information to enhance their experience. By connecting the vehicle, the cloud and services, it optimizes information delivery, interactions, route suggestions and more.
Software Defined Vehicle Platform
At the core is a software foundation that supports AIDV and enables the car to continuously evolve. Through software updates and data integration, it expands the vehicle's capabilities overtime. Even after purchase, the vehicle continues to update, always delivering the latest value.
Nissan will introduce the SDV Platform in fiscal year 2026 and continue to evolve it in stages, accelerating AIDV development.
Our electrification strategy is grounded in customer choice, meeting people where they are rather than prescribing a single path.
e-POWER
At the center of electrification is e-POWER, Nissan's unique hybrid system. It delivers efficiency and comfortable driving experiences, while creating a natural bridge to fully electric vehicles. Its strong compatibility with battery electric vehicle (BEV) technologies allows us to advance EV and e-POWER in parallel, without waste or disruption.
Battery technology
We are scaling EVs while steadily reducing battery cost and complexity. We will continue to advance next-generation battery technologies, including all-solid-state batteries, to prepare for the next phase of electrification.
Empowering people and communities
Mobility services
AI-powered autonomous driving enables new mobility services, including robotaxi, last-mile delivery and shared mobility.
Life-on-Board solutions
Intelligence also supports Life-on-Board solutions, unlocking new business at scale by turning time on the move into a connected, service-enabled experience.
Energy management
Vehicles become part of a broader energy and data ecosystem. Through V2X, vehicle batteries connect with everything, enabling new opportunities in energy management as a service. This supports customers and society through energy storage, optimization, and resilience.
