• When not used for driving, the EV can use the energy in its high-capacity battery as an efficient part of balancing a home's overall energy usage
• Charging the EV when energy rates are low, and using the EVs stored energy to power the home when rates are high, can lower overall household costs
• Homes with solar panels can use excess generated energy to charge the EV. That energy can then be used to power the home at a more cost-efficient time or during peak energy consumption times

Based on a building's power consumption needs, charging and discharging of EVs can be adjusted by building management. This can improve energy demand balancing and operational costs.
