Prairie Joy EV

Nissan initiated a limited lease program in Japan for the Prairie Joy EV in 1997, which has adopted lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for the first time in the world and mainly intended for local government and corporate fleet use.

Altra EV

A variant of the R'nessa minivan sold in Japan, the Altra EV was powered by lithium ion batteries - an industry first for a production vehicle. Approximately 200 Altras were made from 1998-2002, and were primarily used as fleet vehicles by electric utility companies.
