Please tell me about your work experience in digital content production.

I used to work at a web production company where I created a wide range of digital content, but eventually realized the ephemeral nature of digital content and became interested in physical products. Compared to other products, cars are closely tied to our daily lives and since I had no experience in this field, I saw joining Nissan as a good opportunity to expand my knowledge and horizons.
Currently, I work on UX/UI development and wireframe creation for the next generation cockpit, which is also known as interface design. I am mainly responsible for the information architecture and display unit design like meters and navigation. I find it interesting to be able to propose new rhythms and ways of life like smartphones. In a world where there is no clear answer, I am seeking to improve the value of Nissan every day in terms of how to create value and how I can realize it as a designer by discussing these topics with people from various departments.

I heard you’ve been learning about video editing and 3D modeling.

In my current job, I need to make sure people can perceive the intended appeal of the interface and its meaning, rather than having special car knowledge. I’m learning about video editing and 3D-related software on my own to be able to convey the purpose and concept of design more clearly. Joining Nissan has definitely broadened my horizon of creation sources. “Versatility” is an essential element in my skill set, meaning the ability to incorporate new digital technologies into my design while ensuring a certain level of design literacy.
Design is an abstract concept that reflects own perspective of the creators and users, but the elements like “sincerity” and “quality” are always recognized in the design. A product that showcases the ingenuity and enthusiasm of the designer will likely result in user satisfaction. Since Nissan respects the designers’ intention, I am able to pursue the “sincerity” and “quality” of the design I work on.

VISION

I’ve been involved in digital-related work for a while, and digital technology continues to evolve and become an integral part of people’s lives. As digital technology infiltrates the field of mobility, I hope to provide more fulfilling experience to users beyond the boundaries of cars in the future. It’d be ideal if I could maximize the potential of design, which ultimately offers solutions to social issues.
