Comment as a Selected Finalist

Thanks to the support of many individuals, I continue to make work and express my ideas today. I want to continue making art in the same way that I continue to breathe. And in being seen by many others, I hope that my work will also begin breathing of its own accord. I’m very pleased to have been selected as a finalist for the Nissan Art Award. I’m looking forward to many new encounters through my artwork in the summer of 2020.

Comment on the Finalists Exhibition

During this long period of self-restraint, I came to realize just how much the self exists according to connections with the external. It is a very special situation to exhibit in a public space right now, and the time spent creating my work was also an anguished time spent imagining that. In our present, when movement is suspended and only the circulation of consumption is in motion, I hope that my work can continue to exist within strangers by this public viewing.
