Specialty Car
The fifth generation Silvia (S13), rolled out in May 1988 in Japan with the tagline “Art Force Silvia,” was a beautifully shaped coupe and became very popular especially among young people. It received the Good Design Award selected by Ministry of International Trade and Industry and Car of The Year Japan as a proof of its beauty and popularity. FR (front engine and rear drive) drive system also attracted drivers.
The engine mounted on the original model was 1.8-liter “CA18” DOHC. An NA (natural aspiration) of 135ps was mounted for “J’s” and “Q’s”, and a turbo-charged version of 175ps for “K’s”. In 1991, all the engines were changed to 2-liter “SR20” DOHC to enhance the power. NISSAN 180SX that shared the platform with the Silvia was rolled out in 1989 and also became a big hit. This car is “Q’s” equipped with CA18DE engine.
