Nissan R383

The development of the new machine “R383” was launched for a three-peat of Japan Grand Prix after R381's victory in 1968 and R382's in 1969. The engine would be the same with that of R382 (GRX-III; V12, DOHC, 5954cc) with the output exceeding 700ps. It would be 900ps in the turbocharged specs for races of CAN-AM series. But Japan GP was discontinued in 1970 due to changes in circumstances around automobiles and the battlefield for R383 was lost. That's why it was called “phantom machine.”

This car was restored to the drivable condition like other R38 series cars and demonstrated its first run at NISMO FESTIVAL in 2006 after 36 years since it was developed.
