Datsun Sunny 1000 Deluxe(1966: B10)

Datsun Sunny 1000 B10 that played a significant role in starting the age of private cars and motorization in Japan was released in 1966. Nissan ran the campaign prior to release for the name of a new car. " Sunny" was selected from 8.5 million entries.
The strategic sticker price with the average income of salaried workers in mind was successful and sold 30 thousand cars within 5 months after release.
Newly developed Type A engine (988cc, OHV, 56ps) promised the delightful driving. Although the body size was smaller than that of today's compact cars, the interior space was large enough to meet a need of families of younger generation. 4-door models and coupes were added later.
