Executive Vice President Takao Katagiri, responsible for the Japan-ASEAN region and Japan sales and marketing, said, "The Japan sedan market has matured, and customers are now looking for cars with real substance. Nissan is not just seeking a vehicle that can take passengers to their destination, but one that also provides enjoyment getting there. With that said, we would like to introduce you to the new Teana, a car that will excite your senses the moment you set foot into it. The theme for the first-generation model was "modern living," while "hospitality" defined the second-generation car; for the new, third-generation Teana, which inherits the previous themes, we have pursued the theme of "driving performance," giving it a newfound sporty nature that even the most discerning drivers will enjoy. We are excited to bring you the new-generation Teana that will feature an exquisite combination of sportiness, a comfortable ride and luxurious interior."
The premium sedan for the best times of your life
Building on the concept of "Modern Living," which defined previous Teanas, the third-generation model possesses true luxury-sedan character, brimming with elegance and a jovial personality. The dynamically-designed exterior expresses vibrancy and speed, providing an overall ambiance that screams excitement. Accented lines that highlight the cabin provide a high-quality look and feel of a true luxury sedan. Utilizing an articulated seat shape with continuous support from the pelvis to the chest and distribution of localized deformation characteristics, the "zero-gravity" Teana seats help reduce fatigue over long periods behind the wheel. Also, extensive knee room for rear-seat passengers assures comfort for all passengers on board.
On the road, the new Teana impresses, thanks in part to a newly developed multi-link rear suspension that, when combined with Active Trace Control, enhances ride quality and improves handling through turns. Under the hood is an all-new QR25 engine, which comes mated to the XTRONIC CVT. This drivetrain offers an optimal balance: excellent fuel efficiency and exhilarating performance. The entire driving character of the car will urge all who get behind the Teana's wheel to go on an extended road trip. What's more, the new sedan offers several advanced safety technologies, providing customers with features that set it apart from others in its class.
An elegant exterior design that inspires the soul
Like its predecessors, the new Teana possesses a high-quality premium look; however, for this version, the stylists gave the exterior design a shot of adrenaline, making it look sportier and more vibrant by way of a wider, more aggressive stance. Although the wheelbase remains unchanged, the Teana has a strong overall presence, thanks to its stately front grille that sits between canted headlamps. The car's svelte profile results in improved aerodynamic efficiency in a classic display of form following function.
The car to be displayed at the Nissan booth will be bathed in "Radiant Red," accentuating the energy and sexiness of the exterior styling. A new color will be added to the lineup when the car makes it to production, "Waterfall Blue," inspired by the hue of a waterfall.
Interior with a touch of glamour and freedom
The third-generation Teana inherits the concept of Omotenashi (hospitality) from its predecessor. The cabin is highlighted by a distinct character line that stretches from the instrument panel to the door trim, reminiscent of a majestic bird with its wings spread out. Again, form follows function as the elegant presentation of the interior also results in plenty of space for occupants.
New to the cabin are more comfortable seats with "Spinal Support Technology" that greatly improves passenger comfort. The driver will be assured the ideal driving position, thanks to enhanced seat adjustability, a telescopic and tilting steering wheel and the optimal placement of the shift handle. The front passenger seat has been modified with an enlarged support area of the ottoman, providing more comfort than ever, while rear-seat occupants are treated to ample knee room. Also, interior noise has been greatly reduced in the new Teana.
Providing driving comfort for the longest road trip
The new Teana will thrill the most ardent driving enthusiast with its high level of performance. An all new multi-link rear suspension system provides excellent turn-in response, supple ride quality and improved overall handling, giving the driver a sense of adventure and security. The Active Trace Control improves handling through all variety of corners by minimizing steering corrections.
Providing the power is a new QR25 engine that comes mated to Nissan's heralded XTRONIC CVT. The two combine to deliver excellent punch off the line, as well as an ample supply of low- and mid-range torque, handy when overtaking slower vehicles. And thanks in part to revised ratios of the XTRONIC CVT, the new Teana also excels in fuel economy.
When it comes to safety, the Teana offers a suite of innovative safety and convenience features. It features crash avoidance support technologies inspired by Nissan's renowned "Safety Shield" technologies, including the acclaimed "Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD)." This system recognizes moving people and objects around the car, and is an especially helpful tool when maneuvering in parking lots. Additionally, "Blind Spot Warning (BSW)" and "Lane Departure Warning (LDW)" systems are available, helping drivers have a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
Highly visible "Advanced Drive Assist Display" (4-inch color display) offers navigation and controls for the in-car entertainment system, as well as status information for the car's numerous safety features and an ECO meter to let you know when you're driving in an environmentally conscious manner.
The all-new "Teana" is sure to satisfy the most discerning driving connoisseur, helping all who drive the car to enjoy and celebrate the best times of their lives.
