The UK has world's leading universities and is actively involved in “vehicle electrification” and
“vehicle intelligence” by utilizing its high research capabilities.
Research function in Cranfield conducts a wide range of future-oriented research on autonomous
driving, batteries, motors, smartcities etc.

1958

Research Department established on part of the Yokohama Plant site.

1961

Moved to Oppama, Japan in conjunction with the completion of the Oppama, Japan plant and a
proving ground.

1963

Name changed to Research Center.

1971

Name changed to Central Engineering Laboratories.

1974

No. 2 section of Central Engineering Laboratories completed.

1992

Name changed to Nissan Research Center.

2007

Some laboratories moved to the Nissan Advanced Technology Center, Atsugi, Japan.
