Commercial Vehicle
"Tama" was an electric vehicle (EV) by the predecessor of Prince Motors* in 1947. Since Japan was suffering a shortage of oil while electricity generated by waterpower was abundant, the government encouraged manufacturing EVs. Among many EV models, "Tama" achieved the best result at the 1st performance test by the government and was popular as taxi and truck until around 1951.
But outbreak of Korean War in 1950 caused the price of lead to skyrocket while the control of gasoline was removed in 1952 and gasoline cars became dominant again.
This is the car that was modified to a gasoline car at the time. A 4-cyl. inline 760cc engine is mounted now.
