Debuting with the Pao at the 27th Tokyo Motor Show, the S-Cargo was launched in January of the following year, 1989. The playful yet practical style proved popular. As well as the standard roof, a canvas top was available. This vehicle's paintwork was designed by Masuo Ikeda (1934-1997), a versatile artist whose talents stretched to sculpture and film direction.
