Sedan / Competition
The postwar Datsun Sedans, which evolved into the Datsun Bluebird series later in 1959, were direct successors of the prewar Datsun passenger car series. The 1957 Datsun 1000 Sedan 210 was the last all-new Datsun before the launch of Bluebird. It was equipped with a newly developed and Nissan's first OHV 1-liter engine in order to improve high-speed performance. The engineers were thinking of future export potential when they also added such features as curved glass for the windshield. In August-September 1958 at the Mobilgas Trial (Round Australia), a rally which ran 16,000km round Australian continent in 19 days, this car "Fuji" teamed up with another 210 ( "Sakura" ) and came first in Class A (25th overall). This enabled Datsun car appeal its excellence across the world.
