Knockdown production of Austin A40 Somerset Saloon in 1952 was the start of the technology partnership between Nissan and Austin Motor in UK. Nissan developed the first generation Cedric (Model 30) with technologies acquired through the partnership. Cedric 1500cc, a full-sized sedan, made a debut as successor of Austin A40 and A50 in April 1960 prior to the expiration of the partnership in 1960.
American-style body with vertically aligned 4-bulb headlights and wraparound windshield gained popularity. Custom with the 4-cyl. in line OHV engine (1883cc, 88ps) was rolled out in October 1960 and Deluxe in May 1961. This is Custom (Model G30) on which 1900cc engine was mounted.
