Commercial vehicle/Competition
The first Dakar Rally was held in 1978. Machines started the race in Paris, went through Algeria, Niger, and Mali, and reached Dakar in Senegal. The total driving distance was about 10,000km. In spite of cancellation and venue changes in between due to political reasons, the extremely grueling competition named "Dakar Rally" still continues.*
The first NISSAN machine that participated in the rally was "Patrol" 160 in 1982. Then, Terrano/Pathfinder WD21 repeatedly won in T1 class and the second generation R50 won class championship in 2001. Pickup D22 by Nissan Works participated in the race from 2003 to 2005 and the best result was the 4th place.
