In 1989, after a gap of 16 years, the "GT-R" name was reintroduced with the eighth-generation Skyline, and it returned to racing in 1990. This vehicle was the ZEXEL Racing Team's group N specification (N1) GT-R. It was entered in the N1 Endurance Round Series (Japan) and the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours (Belgium). Maximum output was increased to 400PS/7,200rpm.
