The sixth generation Skyline R30 rolled out in 1981 is called "Newman Skyline" since the image character was an actor/racing driver Paul Newman. "2000RS" series with "FJ20" engine (4-cyl. 4-valve, DOHC), as well as 2000GT turbo series, won popularity. " Turbo RS" with FJ20 turbo engine was added in 1983. " The Most Powerful Skyline" was the copy since its max. output reached 190ps, the highest among all the Skyline models.

RS series underwent a minor change in 1983 to have a unique front mask without front grille and was called "Iron Mask". Turbo RS became "Turbo Intercooler RS" with the output of 205ps in 1984.
