Commercial vehicle "DATSUN Pickup" has been on the market since Nissan was established and now it is known as "NISSAN NP300 Navara" in global market.
The fourth generation 220 rolled out in 1957 shared engine and chassis with DATSUN 1000 sedan 210 released simultaneously. New engine "C" (988cc, 4-cyl. inline) was Nissan's first OHV engine.
DATSUN 1000 sedan 210 won class championship at a rally in Australia in 1958, which proved high durability and high performance of" C". DATSUN Sedan 210 and Pickup 220 were exhibited at LA Auto Show in 1958 and export of both models started soon after the show. Thus, they were memorable models that opened the door to export to US.
