Electric vehicle
Following "Prairie EV" (1996), Hypermini was rolled out at Tokyo Motor Show in 1997 and production model was released in 2000. It was a very compact EV for 2 passengers; the overall length of 2660mm and the minimum turning radius of 3.9m.
It was equipped with the groundbreaking keyless entry system of IC card type with a view to car-sharing, and was actually used to collect data from car-sharing experiments in Yokohama and Ebina. The max. speed was 100km/h and the mileage per charge was 115km, sufficient for driving in the neighborhood. Run-flat tires and lightweight aluminum frame were also adopted. "Drive. Only 100 yen for 100 km" was the forward-looking sales copy.
