Nissan also became actively engaged in a wide range of activities. One example is the Nissan Children’s Storybook and Picture Book Grand Prix (sponsored by the International Institute for Children’s Literature, Osaka), inaugurated to commemorate establishment of the Center for International Children’s Literature, Osaka in 1984. Its chief aim was fostering a healthy and cultural environment for children as next-generation leaders. As of 2023, the event has been held 40 times, all under Nissan’s sponsorship.
