Nissan to Release All-New Stagea Prestigious Touring Wagon

The Stagea has been designed and engineered around the concept of a "prestigious touring wagon that provides superior wagon qualities and outstanding driving performance." It achieves an exquisite balance of versatile wagon functionality combined with comfortable, sporty driving performance on a par with that of high-performance sedans.

Distinguished by its sporty styling, indicative of the car's refined character and sense of presence, and meticulously laid out interior, the Stagea embodies an array of superlative wagon attributes in its pursuit of exceptional ease of use in addition to providing large luggage space.

Moreover, its high wagon body stiffness and multi-link rear suspension engineered specifically for wagon application combine to deliver comfortable, sporty driving performance rivaling that of high-performance sedans. The Stagea also adopts the ATTESA E-TS Electronic Torque Split 4WD system with a new synchro mode for optimum suitability to a broad range of wagon uses and needs. This remarkable system provides superb driving stability on all sorts of road surfaces along with sure-footed traction when starting off on icy or snow-covered roads .

Safety has also been vigorously addressed, including the provision of dual airbag supplemental restraint systems (SRS) for the driver and front passenger and an antilock braking system (ABS) as standard equipment on all models.

The name Stagea was coined by adding the "a" of advanced to the wordgstageh. It signifies that this prestigious touring wagon proposes a new and more advanced stage for enjoying a variety of lifestyles.

Overview of New Stagea

(1) Exterior design matching manifold lifestyles and projecting a harmonious sense of presence

The front view abounds with a feeling of sportiness and premium quality, owing to the wide grille with its sense of refined character, in addition to the distinctive-lookinground headlamps and fog lamps.

The long roof with its gracefully flowing lines and rear pillars into which the lines run create a body form symbolic of superb wagon functionality and stellar driving performance. Another attractive aspect of the side view made possible by the dedicated wagon body is the beautiful visual image projected by the window design.

The rear view has been executed with a sporty design that suggests dynamic driving performance characterized by high stability resulting from the wide tread.

Twin power glass sunroofs that slide open wide to give the interior an exceptionally open, expansive feel are available as an option on all models excluding the 20G. The front sunroof slides open on the outside and also tilts while the rear sunroof slides open on the inside.

The lineup includes the RS Series that pursues an added dimension of driving pleasure through the use of a turbo engine mated to the ATTESA E-TS 4WD system with a new synchro mode.

Models in this series come with a dedicated mesh-type grille, front spoiler and smoky privacy glass for the rear door window and rear side windows. Additionally, the RS FOUR V model is equipped with 16-inch forged aluminum wheels, 205/55R16 tires and strut tower bars for an enhanced level of sporty driving enjoyment.

(2) Interior layout befitting a prestigious touring wagon

The roomy, comfortable interior allows ample passenger space and a large luggage compartment.The instrument panel is designed with a highly functional layout for minimal fatigue even on long journeys. Besides using large-size instruments for greater legibility, a large digital liquid crystal display odometer has been adopted along with a tripmeter providing dual display modes.

Both the X and G Series models feature handsome wood-grain finishers that give an impression of premium quality. RS Series models come with metallic finishers to accent their sporty image.

The rear seats have a 60/40 split seatback and fold down fully for greater convenience and utility when carrying cargo. They also incorporate an 8-way reclining function for enhanced passenger comfort.

An optional seating system combining genuine leather with SUPPLALEš for excellent cost performance is available on the X Series and RS FOUR V models. SUPPLALEš has greater moisture-absorbing capacity than ordinary artificial leather, is extraordinarily close to real leather in appearance and is also easy to maintain. A host of thoughtful places are provided for efficient storage of small essential items, including a side-locking center console box that incorporates a coin holder and a removable tray.

Cupholders for two cups are provided in both the front and rear seats.

(3) Outstanding wagon attributes resulting from the pursuit of spaciousness and ease of use

The luggage compartment is covered entirely with a premium-quality carpet and measures 1,145 mm in length and 1,380 mm in width with a five-passenger seating configuration.

When the rear seats are folded down flat, the length becomes 2,115 mm and the VDA capacity is an ample 1,475 liters, ranking among the largest in its class.

The rear seats incorporate a remote-control folding mechanism that enables them to be folded down independently by operating a lever in the luggage compartment. A multipartition net, tonneau cover and a reversible polyvinyl chloride storage mat are included to facilitate many different uses of the luggage compartment. In addition, luggage hooks are provided in twelve locations along with a power supply socket and a variety of storage places in pursuit of superior wagon functionality and convenience for every imaginable lifestyle situation in which the Stagea might be used.

(4) Comfortable, sporty driving performance worthy of a touring wagon

The multi-link rear suspension is a dedicated wagon suspension featuring shorter and more vertically oriented shock absorbers, which, together with the wide tread, secure generous luggage space.

In addition to the highly rigid wagon body, the optimum placement of sound deadening and absorbing materials and increased capacity of the center muffler, among other measures, achieve superb quietness on a par with that of luxury sedans.

The Stagea is powered by an in-line 6-cylinder RB series engine (choice of the RB25DET, RB25DE or RB20E) that delivers sporty, comfortable performance worthy of a prestigious touring wagon.
