Nissan announces Changes in the Responsibilities of its Top Management and Organizational Changes
Tokyo --- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd today announced changes in the responsibilities of some of its top management and organizational changes effective January 1, 1999.

2. Organizational Changes
On January 1, 1999, the company will put into effect organizational changes aimed at revamping domestic sales activities and product strategies, which are the main objectives under its global business reform plan.
(1) Reorganization of Domestic Marketing and Sales Group
Domestic Marketing and Sales Group will be reorganized in preparation for the shift in April 1999 to the “two product lineup system” and to boost sales.
@ Product and sales promotion-related functions will be reorganized and strengthened.

・ Sales promotion and sales administration which have been conducted at the Marketing and Sales Operations Departments No. 1 to No. 4 and planning for sales promotion of new models, which have been conducted at the Domestic Product Planning and Marketing Department, will be consolidated into the new Marketing and Sales Promotion Department No. 1 (Nissan・Motor Channel) and the new Marketing and Sales Promotion Department No. 2 (Sunny・Prince Channel)
・ The Domestic Product Planning and Marketing Department will be made to focus on product planning to strengthen its marketing functions.
A Functions to support dealership management will be reorganized and strengthened.
・ Sales Departments will consist of the following three divisions organized
by region.
Dealer Support Department No. 1 (Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Kanto areas)
Dealer Support Department No. 2 (Tokyo Metropolitan area as well as Shizuoka, Aichi, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka Prefectures)
Dealer Support Department No. 3 (Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku, Sikoku, and Kyushu areas)
・ Dealer Development and Support Department will be newly established to strengthen the development capability for sales software, including dealer outlet strategies. In addition, the new CAREST Operation Section will be instituted in this department to carry out planning work for the opening of “CAREST Zama,” a new-type auto sales complex.
・ Dealer Support Department will be reorganized into Dealer Support Administration Department as the central department to control both profits and costs of dealerships.
(2) Reorganization of Product and Development Groups
Part of the Powertrain Engineering Division will be reorganized.

@ The responsibility of the Powertrain Engineering Division will be partially changed in preparation for the establishment in July 1999 of a new automatic transmission (A/T) manufacturing company.
A Development work of systems and components using power electronics, which is a new technology domain, will be consolidated into the Advanced Powertrain Development Group (the same level as a section), which will be newly instituted within the Powertrain Engineering Department.
