NOTES:

1. Nissan’s domestic production in November was up 3.2% to 131,291 units from a year ago due to good sales of new models such as the Sunny and the Liberty and the continued excellent market acceptance of the Cube and Presage. Likewise production of the Maxima for the North American and other overseas markets increased 49.9% to 11,555 units last month. However, overseas production was down 10.4% to 81,529 units compared with that of last November, marking the 5th straight month of year-on-year decrease. The decline was mainly blamed on production adjustments for export vehicles in Mexico, among other countries.

2. Nissan’s domestic sales in November decreased 11.6% to 63,298 units, marking the 6th consecutive year-on-year decrease, reflecting generally sluggish total demand in the domestic market. Total demand in the domestic market in November dropped 15.9% from a year ago to 326,644 units, marking the 20th consecutive year-on-year decrease. As a result, Nissan’s market share was up 1.0 point to 19.4% compared with that for last November.

3. Nissan’s exports in November were up 7.2% to 60,854 units compared with those for last November because of the smooth progress of inventory adjustments in the US and favorable sales of commercial vehicle models like pickup truck and the Patrol in Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
