Nissan Selects “Tino” as New Passenger Car Name

Tokyo ‐ Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that the name Tino has been selected for a newly developed passenger car set to be released next month. This new model name comes from the Spanish word “tino” meaning reason or correct judgment. It is intended to signify that the Tino is a wise choice as a car to which all family members will be fondly attached and will have a distinct feeling of enjoying a new lifestyle.

The Tino is a completely new category of passenger car, developed around “the concept of Tino proportions” and featuring all-around superior performance highlighted by its novel and distinctive styling. The car’s height and width have been utilized to good advantage to create a spacious, comfortable interior that allows flexible seating arrangements matching a wide range of intended purposes and uses. Each of the three rear seats can be removed individually, and the Tino can also accommodate as many as six persons if the need should arise. Moreover, besides providing spirited driving performance with nimble maneuverability, it also adopts a host of new safety and environmental technologies.

The Tino is scheduled to be announced and released on December 22 and will be sold by Sunny, Prince and Cherry channel dealers nationwide. Dealers throughout Japan that will be handling the Tino are planning to conduct an advance advertising campaign to familiarize the public with the new model name.
