Production, Domestic Sales, and Export Results for September
and the 1st Half of FY2000
Tokyo -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, domestic sales
and export results for September and the first half of FY2000.
1. Production, domestic sales and exports results for September 2000
1. Nissan's domestic production in September was down 12.5% 120,393 units,
the third consecutive year-on-year decrease. Nissan's overseas production in
September was up 27.8% to 122,502 units, the 14th consecutive year-on-year increase.
Nissan's production in all of its four major overseas plants increased from
the previous year. As a result, Nissan's global production came to 242,895 units,
up 4.1%,representing the 8th consecutive year-on-year increase.
2. Nissan's domestic sales in September were 71,637 units, down 14.6%, representing
the third consecutive year-on-year decrease. Nissan's domestic market share
in September was 18.5%, down 3.0 points from the level of September, 1999.
3. Nissan's exports in September declined by 10.6% to 56,779 units, marking
the first year-on-year decrease in two months.
2. Production, domestic sales and exports results for the 1st half of
FY2000 (from April to September, 2000)
1. Nissan's domestic production in the 1H of FY2000 totaled 661,023 units,
up 0.3% from the same period of 1999, marking the first year-on-year increase
in three years. Nissan's overseas production in the 1H of FY2000 was up 30.0%
to 652,940 units, representing the second consecutive year-on-year increase.
Nissan's production in all of its overseas plants increased from the same period
of 1999. Nissan's global production in the 1H of FY2000 totaled 1,313,963 units,
up 13.1% from the previous year, marking the first year-on-year increase in
three years.
2. Nissan's domestic sales in the 1H of FY2000 decreased 9.4% over the previous
year to 335,408 units, marking the fifth consecutive year-on-year decrease (1H
of each FY). Nissan's market share in the 1H of FY2000 was 17.4%, down 2.3 points
from that of the same period of 1999.
3. Nissan exported 329,217 units in the 1H of FY2000, up 6.7% from the previous
year, marking the first year-on-year increase in three years.
