Europe

The next-generation Primera is well suited to the needs of European drivers because it reflects Nissan's European design and R&D capabilities and is produced in the United Kingdom.

Nissan has been the best-selling Japanese brand in Europe since 1975, and maintained this position in 1995. In a sluggish market environment, Nissan achieved registrations of 458,700 units (16 major markets). Some two-thirds of all European sales are now sourced from European manufacturing plants. All Micra, Primera, Serena, Terrano II and Vanette Cargo models sold in Europe are manufactured in Europe. Moreover, many of the models manufactured by Nissan in Europe are now being exported to markets as diverse as Australia, Israel, Mauritius and Thailand. Export sales in 1995 exceeded 26,500 units.

Nineteen ninety-six is a year of opportunity for Nissan. The latest Primera, a U.K.-built model, will play a key role in terms of both volume and image. More than any other model to date, Primera represents Nissan's commitment to the European market because it reflects our European design, research and development, and manufacturing capabilities. This model launch has also been timed to coincide with the increasing visibility of and positive customer reaction to the modern and attractive styling of Nissan's new, pan-European retail identity.

A number of key models also enter their first full year of sales in 1996: Almera, Maxima QX and Vanette Cargo. Quality new products combined with general efficiency improvements form the basis of a strong recovery for Nissan in Europe during 1996.
