Now We're Moving Toward New Goals

Nissan has accelerated its efforts to change the way it does business, with the result that we have achieved savings of 280 billion in Japan over the past two fiscal years, particularly in the area of production costs.

The Global Restructuring Policy begun in June 1995 is designed to create a management structure that can deal effectively with drastic changes in the international economic environment. Nissan continues to expand global operations and build ties with competitive international suppliers.

We are working to maximize our use of existing production facilities and reduce parts variations to lower the costs of producing more attractive vehicles that respond to customer needs.

Nissan's efforts to raise efficiency resulted in a profit on a nonconsolidated basis--we have turned the corner. We must now produce a profit on a consolidated basis.
