Human Body Model Simulation

FUTURE TECHNOLOGY

  • Category
  • Safety Technologies
In addition to dummy testing using anthropomorphic test devices, Computer simulation using the Human Body Model* that reproduces the human anatomy, such as bones, muscles, and ligaments allows a more detailed understanding of injury occurrence mechanisms. Research and development of a more effective pedestrian protection device is underway.

* Jointly developed with JAMA

Features

  • As the human body is modeled with anatomical fidelity, impacted pedestrians' responses are accurately simulated, allowing the contact location between the vehicle and body parts such as the head to be accurately determined.
  • Detailed observation of the injury site, timing, and process are made possible.
  • The simulation of various factors in accidents such as pedestrians' posture at the time of impact, vehicle speed, and vehicle bearing (with or without brakes) are made possible.
