ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
Nissan technology is centered in four main areas, each based on our core vision of enriching people's lives. Here we introduce our most innovative technological advances, and the vehicles that use them.-
Nissan's environmental technologies are focussed on developing zero-emission vehicles and fuel-efficient engines, as well as reducing CO2 emissions, with an approach firmly centered on people and the mobility environment. -
Nissan's safety technologies are developed by looking at safety issues from every possible angle, to create a safer and securer mobile society. -
Nissan's cars are built so that every detail gives you a great driving experience. Comfortable acceleration, a soothing engine sound, smooth cornering, and safe and secure at speed. -
A driver's cockpit, comfortable cabin, stylish interior. From the moment you get on board to when step out onto the pavement, Nissan's vehicles are built to give you a fantastic ride.
The HR12DDR is a newly developed 3-cylinder 1.2-liter direct injection gasoline engine with supercharger that aims to achieve class-leading low CO2 emissions.
The concept utilizes a highly sensitive radar sensor to monitor the distance from the vehicle in front and its relative speed.
Building on the capabilities of Nissan's Around View Monitor System, which shows the driver a video image of the area surrounding the vehicle, this new function helps the driver avoid a collision by providing visual and audible warnings if the system detects moving objects within the displayed image in situations such as pulling out of a parking space.
Nissan has developed a new brake system that exhibits smooth yet firm braking characteristics while taking maximum advantage of the regenerative braking power of electric and hybrid vehicles.
Nissan's new power steering system provides the natural, smooth feel of a sophisticated conventional hydraulic power steering system while simultaneously improving fuel economy by using electric power instead of drawing power from the engine.
Nissan LEAF is a pure electric vehicle powered only by electricity, and its battery can be charged at home. The electric motor that replaces the conventional engine offers a totally different driving experience with quiet and responsive acceleration.
Camera unit installed behind the windshield detects lane markers in front of the vehicle and calculate its position relative to the lane markers. Brake actuator controls the brake pressure of each wheel individually to generate intended movement.
Nissan LEAF and its driver are always connected. The dedicated IT system adds comfort and convenience. The dedicated IT system furnishes important information and helps intelligently control energy before, during and after driving. Nissan LEAF creates new value in a broad variety of situations.
With the spreading use of cleaner energy and construction of infrastructure like park-and-ride lots and non-contact charging stations, cities and towns and the lives of the people living in them will be richer and more attractive. Nissan is working to help build societies where EVs are common.
The lithium-ion battery developed especially for hybrid vehicles are designed to improve acceleration and fuel efficiency. While they remain the same size as conventional lithium-ion batteries, they realize twice the power, allowing for strong acceleration, and they regenerate more easily, recapturing more energy in regenerative braking.
The new hybrid system was developed to improve environmental performance while also pursuing Nissan's objectives of direct response. The system incorporates a lithium-ion battery to improve fuel economy while also "fulfilling driving pleasure".
When the car enters a curve, the system helps the driver slow down according to the sharpness on the curve.
To build driver confidence, Nissan developed three functions using the VDC system for smooth operations on the behavior.
We developed two fundamental technologies to reduce body sway and smaller vibrations that rear-seat passengers often experience as bumpiness, so they can read, write or sleep comfortably on the road.
This system helps improve stability and response at high speed and helps reduce driver's steering workload at low speed.
For the commercialization of electric-powered vehicles, Nissan has been developing lithium-ion batteries - one of the key technologies.
Platform for the electric vehicle to be released from Japan and the US. Designed and developed specially for the EV, its thin, laminated battery pack under the floor, it will have a roomy cabin.
The system allows charging an EV without a connecting cable, simply by parking it in a designated spot, much like charging an electric toothbrush or shaver.
Nissan has developed the air-conditioning system to make cabin air quality closer to nature, helping to reduce stress of the drive and passengers.
