Maintaining market quality

Customer assurance that extends beyond the warranty period
Nissan is working to make even the smallest components more durable.

We want to provide customers with cars that combine comfort and style with high durability.

Doing a follow-up check on a Nissan vehicle

While the Nissan warranty lasts between three to five years, our vehicles are designed to perform well for many years beyond the warranty period. Some Nissan customers keep their vehicles for ten years or more, taking them in for regular safety inspections and required maintenance. Naturally, many people sell their used vehicles after the warranty expires. We seek to satisfy every customer, including this group of after-market consumers, so Nissan conducts follow-up inspections on vehicles that have been in the market for several years to gauge their durability.

We seek out older vehicles, conduct detailed inspections on wear and tear, and feed the data back into the development process cycle.

Strict inspections for used vehicles

The first thing used-car dealers and used-car auction sites do is examine a car for signs of wear and tear and then carefully assess the effects of this deterioration. They check to see if the switches work, how bleached and cracked the rubber components are, the degree of scratching on surfaces, and the brightness of the headlamps, among other things.
Nissan performs repeated RCEP* checks and send the results to our designers and engineers. They apply the data to new vehicle development projects to ensure that subsequent models achieve higher durability standards.

  • * RCEP stands for Reliability Comparison Evaluation Program, which evaluates changes in markets under a variety of uses, environmental conditions, and other factors.
