Nissan exhibited the EPORO Robot Car, which has been designed to travel in groups, mimicking the behavioral patterns of a school of fish, at CEATEC JAPAN 2009.
The EPORO was developed from the BR23C robot car (shown at CEATEC JAPAN 2008). Focusing on the behavioral pattern of a school of fish which can avoid obstacles while swimming without colliding into each other, Nissan utilized three fish behavior rules-collision avoidance, traveling side-by-side and approaching - as the EPORO's traveling patterns.
