Nissan held an "Interaction Design Workshop" at the Nissan Design Center in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Pref. In this event, Nissan showcased its efforts for more user-friendly and comfortable interiors, with its test vehicle exhibited for the first time.
Defining "interaction design" as "designing how people feel", Nissan aims for a "design in which all the elements are smooth and attractive for those who interact with the vehicle." Interaction design is broadly categorized as interface design, color and material design, and perceived quality design, and case examples for each category were displayed in the various experiment sections.
A newly-developed inside door handle installed in BUI-2 (Best Usability Interior-2), a prototype vehicle unveiled at this time, was developed based on the research of the movement of the hand when one gets out of the car. This has already been installed in the new Z and the new Cube released last year.
