Nissan unveiled all-electric and original hybrid electric prototype vehicles, both powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries.
Committed to zero-emission vehicle leadership, Nissan will introduce an all-electric vehicle in the U.S. and Japan in FY2010 and then mass-market vehicles to consumers globally in FY2012.
The EV prototype is part of Nissan's substantial research and development program on zero-emission vehicles.
The production vehicle to be introduced in 2010 will have a unique bodystyle that is not based on any existing Nissan model.
As well as the all-electric vehicle, Nissan will introduce an original HEV in Japan and the U.S. in FY2010, which carries the first rear-wheel drive hybrid powertrain.
The HEV prototype is equipped with a rear-wheel drive hybrid system which is under development to improve environmental performance while also pursuing Nissan's objectives of "fulfilling driving pleasure."
