Nissan's Iwaki Engine Plant Celebrates its 15th Anniversary and 5-millionth Engine Production (2008/07/21)
One of the Nissan's main production forces, the Iwaki engine plant, located in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, celebrated its 15th anniversary and 5-millionth engine production at the plant facility. Completed in 1993, the plant started unique production of the V6 VQ engine in January 1994, followed by the operation of the 2nd engine plant built with the most-advanced machining line in July 2007. And this April it reached its 5-millionth engine production milestone after 14 years and three months from the start of operation.
The Iwaki-made VQ engine is installed with 12 Nissan models like the Fuga and Skyline. Its outstanding performance and development posture was well valued to mark the 14th consecutive win for the VQ engine from Ward's 10 Best Engines award, bearing the distinction of being the only engine to record a consecutive win in the award's history.
