All-New Nissan X-Trail on Sale in Japan in December

YOKOHAMA, Japan (December 11, 2013) - Nissan Motor Corporation announced today that the all-new X-Trail SUV will commence sales at dealers throughout Japan starting December 16.

Targeting young customers who enjoy outdoor sports, the new X-Trail is a continuously evolving authentic SUV. It features the popular ALL MODE 4X4-i system and advanced chassis control technologies that have been adopted as world-firsts. Combined with other technologies that help improve fuel efficiency, the all-new X-Trail delivers excellent driving performance and achieves best-in-class*1 fuel economy of 16.4 km/L.

The Emergency Brake, adopted by Nissan for the first time, is one of several safety features which complement the Around View Monitor with Intelligent Parking Assist. These features help drivers maneuver the vehicle with confidence in a variety of driving situations.

The all-new Nissan X-Trail for the Japanese market is being assembled by Nissan Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. The sales target for the Japanese market is 2,500 units per month.

Highlights of the new X-Trail:
○ Excellent driving performance delivered in nearly any situation
X-Trail adopts Nissan's well-recognized four-wheel drive system, ALL MODE 4x4i, as previous generation models, with Hill Start Assist, Advance Hill Descent Control, and Yaw Moment Control. Advanced technologies, including world's first Active Ride Control and Active Engine Brake, and Cornering Stability Assist, are adopted in all grades to significantly improve riding comfort and drivability.

○ Luggage space and utility features delivering ultimate user-friendliness
With flexible luggage area that can be custom-portioned depending on size and the type of luggage, and increased storage space including pockets and cup holders, customer convenience is enhanced. The optional hands-free remote-controlled rear hatch enables a person with the Intelligent Key to easily open it just by waving a hand or an object near the sensor even when holding a package. This can be utilized in various situations from daily driving to outdoor activities. Fatigue caused by long-distance driving is reduced by newly-developed Spinal Support seats in the front and rear. In addition to two-row five-passenger grades, three-row seven-passenger grades are newly added.

○ Advanced equipment and environmental performance appropriate for the most powerful SUV
X-Trail supports enhanced safety and security while driving in various situations with the adoption of the Emergency Brake, Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication, LDW (Lane Departure Warning) and Do-not-enter Sign Detection systems available together at an affordable price. BSW (Blind Spot Warning) and Driver Attention Alert are also offered as optional features. With newly-adopted Nissan first Around View Monitor with Parking Assist, a driver does not need to turn the steering wheel when parking in a garage or parallel parking. It makes parking much easier. The Advanced Drive-Assist Display also provides a variety of vehicle information to support driving

As for environmental performance, fuel-saving technologies, including direct-injection MR20DD engine, Idling Stop, the new XTRONIC CVT, reduced driving load and light-weight body, help achieve best fuel efficiency*1 of 16.4 km/L*2.
The new X-Trail achieves a 10% improvement in fuel economy over 2015 standards and SU-LEV certification, and emits 75% fewer exhaust emissions than 2005 standards. Correspondingly, automobile acquisition and weight taxes are reduced by 75% in every grade. Based on the dual-pillar strategy of Zero Emissions and PURE DRIVE*3, Nissan continues its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions throughout its product lineup. The new X-Trail is one of Nissan's PURE DRIVE models.

Sales target: 2500 units / month
Price range: 2,249,100 yen to 2,797,200 yen, including consumption tax
Sales launch events: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, December 21-23
