May 28, 2007 NISSAN AND ‘THE NATURAL STEP’ COLLABORATE ON TOKYO (May 28, 2007)— Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ginza, Chuo Ward, Tokyo; President: Carlos Ghosn) and The Natural Step (the international non-profit organization for environmental education founded by Professor Karl-Henrik Robčrt) have collaborated to develop the Nissan Environmental e-Learning program, designed to promote greater awareness and understanding of the environment. The e-learning program is planned to be launched in June 2007, and will be available to all Nissan employees worldwide.
Under the Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental action plan announced in Dec. 2006, Nissan is committed to introduce a systematic instructional program to educate its employees on the the environment. The e-learning’s basic syllabus covers Nissan’s three key environmental issues* -- the global environmental issues and the company’s green initiatives. The e-learning syllabus was specifically developed to suit Nissan’s long-term environmental vision, which is consistent with the philosophies and recommendations proposed by The Natural Step. The Natural Step was founded in 1989 in Sweden and has offices in 11 countries today. The Natural Step Framework has been adopted internationally by hundreds of organizations including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and universities. Nissan plans to expand its environmental education programs, including e-learning programs, to benefit all global employees by FY2010 (including non-consolidated companies). *Nissan’s Three Key Environmental Issues: 1. Reducing CO2 emissions 2. Cleaner emissions to preserve the air, water and soil 3. Recycling of Resources ### |
