Trends in global sales

Here are sales results and the top three best-selling Nissan models in each of our four major markets (Japan, China, the U.S. and Europe ) in fiscal 2016.

In FY 2016, Nissan's global sales volume rose 3.7% from a year earlier to 5.63 million vehicles.

Japan

Total industry volume in Japan increased 2.8% from a year earlier to 5.08 million vehicles. Nissan sales fell 2.6% to 557,000 vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 11.0%, down 0.6 points.

China

In China, where our sales are calculated on a calendar-year basis, total industry volume rose 13.2% from a year earlier to 26.9 million vehicles. Nissan sales increased 8.4% to 1.35 million vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 5.0%, down 0.3 points.

U.S.

In the U.S., total industry volume fell 0.7% from a year earlier to 17.5 million vehicles. Nissan sales increased 4.2% to 1.58 million vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 9.0%, down 0.4 points.

Europe

In Europe, excluding Russia, total industry volume increased 6.9% from a year earlier to 18 million vehicles. Nissan sales rose 7.2% to 683,000 vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 3.8%, which was unchanged. In Russia, total industry volume fell 7.0% to 14.3 million vehicles. Nissan sales increased 19.7% to 93,000 vehicles, equivalent to a market share of 6.5%, down 1.1 points.
