Three Key Issues

Focusing on everything we can do as an automobile company

We at Nissan are constantly thinking about what we can do, and what we should do, for the various environmental challenges faced by society today, which include the effects of climate change and environmental impacts on the ecosystem and the human body, the depletion of mineral and water resources, and more.

After considering how Nissan's products?automobiles?and our corporate activities may effect the environment, we identified three key areas where Nissan can take the most effective action.

Three key issues and ultimate goals

The three key issues that Nissan is focusing on are: 1) Reducing CO2 emissions; 2) Reducing other emissions as a whole to preserve the atmosphere, water, and soil; and 3) Promoting a resource cycle through reduction, reuse, and recycling of materials. We have set ultimate goals in these three fields, and are working to achieve them.

  • * Recycling rate: The percentage of waste produced that is recycled, including heat recovery, and reused.

Nissan Green Program 2010: Nissan's medium-term environmental action plan

NISSAN GREEN PROGRAM

In December 2006, Nissan announced a medium-term environmental action plan, the Nissan Green Program 2010. This program presents specific numerical targets and activity plans to achieve Nissan's ultimate goals for global operations by 2010. Based on these plans, we will provide the eco-friendly products demanded by customers and society, and continue to work to minimize the environmental impact of our activities in all processes from vehicle development, production, and use, to transport and sales.
