High environmental performance in vehicles that are attractive to customers
Two core abilities are at work in the production of Nissan vehicles:
- (1) Outstanding technical abilities to make more eco-friendly vehicles
- (2) Ability to spread those technologies worldwide
It is Nissan's belief that we can best contribute to the realization of a sustainable mobile society by improving both of these abilities simultaneously.
Nissan provides vehicles that are attractive to a wide range of customers while advancing the development of technologies with low environmental impact, such as electric and fuel cell vehicles. Our conviction is that success in mounting more and more vehicles with technology that places minimal stress on the environment will lead to a lowering of the environmental impact on society as a whole.
Environmental technologies used in one Nissan vehicle
Efforts for eco-friendly vehicles
- Gasoline-engine vehicles: Fuel efficiency improved so that vehicles can run 100 km on 3 liters of gasoline
- Flexible-fuel (biofuel-compatible) vehicles: Biofuels reduce well-to-wheel CO2 emission
- Fuel cell vehicles: Sole exhaust emission is water
- Hybrid vehicles: CO2 emissions reduced
- Electric vehicles: CO2 and other tailpipe emissions reduced to zero
- Clean diesel-engine vehicles: Emission gases significantly reduced compared with conventional vehicles
In addition to the above, Nissan is developing various other eco-friendly vehicles, including low emission vehicles and compressed natural gas vehicles.
We are also working to reduce CO2 emission levels during vehicle operation, which are significantly influenced by driving habits.
