Reducing VOCs in Vehicle Cabins

Setting voluntary standards for reduction


The Bluebird Sylphy, with cabin VOCs reduced to below the levels in the guidelines of the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (Japan)

VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, are organic compounds such as formaldehyde and toluene that evaporate readily at normal temperatures.
We are currently reviewing the materials and adhesives we use in seats, door trim, floor carpets, and other cabin components to reduce VOCs in vehicle cabins.
Specifically, we are reducing VOCs to satisfy voluntary standards for all new models launched from July 2007.
