Development of Easy to Recycle Materials
To promote the recycling of plastics that currently are put in landfills as ASR, we are switching to the use of thermoplastics, which are easier to recycle, and developing other materials that are easier to recycle. We are also promoting the simplification of material identification for plastic parts through material identification markings, and designing parts that are made of a single material.
Greater use of thermoplastic
Nissan is promoting the wider use of thermoplastic, which are easy to recycle.

Consolidation of polypropylene
PP is a common thermoplastic that accounts for approximately one half of total plastic use. The material is used in a variety of applications, from bumpers (for excellent impact characteristics) to heater parts (for excellent thermal properties). We have decreased the variety of PPs that we use in production to six types that are readily available overseas.
