Nissan Science Foundation

Since its establishment in 1974, the Nissan Science Foundation (Chairman: Carlos Ghosn) has extensively provided grants for a wide range of significant research mostly in the field of natural science. Past records show that the Nissan Science Foundation has provided approximately 1,500 projects with grants totaling 5.5 billion yen.

In spite of dramatic progress in technological advancements since the time of the Foundation's establishment, new social problems in areas like the environment or education have arisen.

Facing such social issues while also responding to newly arising needs in this era, the Nissan Science Foundation is focusing its grants delivery on the below three areas under the action item "Creating solutions for social progress" and is conducting distinctive activities as a private foundation.

The Nissan Science Foundation's
main areas of grants are:
1. Providing grants for research concerning environmental problems
2. Providing grants for basic research that has the potential to provide benefits such as safety performance for automobile users
3. Providing grants to promote science/technology or environmental education
