Nissan held "the 17th Nissan Joyful Storybook and Picture Book Exhibition" from March 25 through April 5, 2009, co-hosted by the Foundation for Child Well-being (the National Children's Castle). Large panels of "Moimoi no Pokke" by H@L, the prize-winner picture book of the 24th Nissan Children's Storybook and Picture book Grand Prix, were exhibited in the venue. Many visitors enjoyed the workshop; "Pokke ni Hakken Takaramono", and the picture book reading corner, "CUBE Forest".

Providing children with opportunities to experience good picture books and storybooks to cultivate their creativity, Nissan has continuously held this exhibition as part of its contribution to educational area, one of the three main areas of our corporate citizenship activities. About nine hundred pairs of parents and children enjoyed Monozukuri experience at the popular workshop section.

Vehicle seats and interior materials were used in many corners, which is one of the characteristics of this event. These were sample materials used for, such as, designing, which were then turned over to new "creation" of various sizes. This concept of recycling has been continuing since this exhibition began.

In cooperation with Nissan Design Center, "Cube quarter scale model" made from expanded polystyrene was also displayed. The miniature model with a high completion level was really popular among children. It looked like the miniature Cube surrounded by picture books was proud of itself.

In this event, Nissan employee volunteers and the volunteer students from Waseda University's Hirayama Ikuo Memorial Volunteer Center (WAVOC) actively supported our operation, which is also one of the characteristics of this activity. Forgetting their daily businesses, they all helped the children make crafts. This year, twenty seven volunteer employees and students joined the event to support our activities.
Based on a policy, "being a corporate citizen living symbiotically with people and society with consideration to environment", Nissan has been working on various activities including corporate citizenship activities. With this approach, "Blue Citizenship", in our mind, Nissan will continuously address a wide range of corporate citizenship activities.
