Nissan Supports Karuizawa Arts Festival 2007

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will participate in the Karuizawa Arts Festival 2007, to be held from 20-26 August, 2007 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. The Karuizawa Arts Festival, organized by the Sony Music Foundation, is a culture and fine arts extravaganza centered around the music festival. Recitals, cultural and fine arts events, and environment-related programs are held concurrently at various locations in Karuizawa, centered around the Karuizawa Ohga Hall.

X-TRAIL FCV to Play an Active Role at the Festival

In summer, many tourists visit Karuizawa. In particular, during the Karuizawa Arts Festival 2007, many visitors from other prefectures are expected to come in their cars. Given this fact, the executive committee tried to make the event more environmentally friendly. In line with our vision to "Seek Symbiosis of People, Vehicles and Nature" pursued under the "Nissan Green Program 2010" environmental plan, Nissan will contribute four X-TRAIL FCVs (fuel cell vehicles) to support the operations of the festival. The FCVs will play an active role in transporting the artists between various music events during the festival.

Nissan's Environmental Philosophy is defined as "Seeking Symbiosis of People, Vehicles and Nature" that aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable mobility society. In December 2006, Nissan announced the "Nissan Green Program 2010," mid-term environmental action program which outlined the following three objectives: reduction in CO2 emissions, cleaner emissions to preserve atmosphere, water and soil, and recycling resources (in line with the three Rs - reduce/reuse/recycle). Ultimately, the goal is to reduce the environmental burden and to manage resource utilization at a level that nature is able to absorb.

While the FCV is the ecocar of the next generation, today, it is being utilized to contribute in a positive manner at the Karuizawa Arts Festival.

Please visit Karuizawa, where you will be able to experience the FCV, and experience the Nissan approach to the environmental conservation. Of course, please enjoy the Karuizawa Arts Festival 2007!
