Nissan holds completion ceremony for eighth-term participants and start-up seminar for ninth-term participants

This year, the Nissan-NPO Learning Scholarship Program has entered its ninth year. Recently on July 4, Nissan held a start-up seminar for ninth-term participants and a ceremony to congratulate eighth-term participants on their completion of the program at the Nissan Headquarters.

Approximately 75 people participated in the events on that day, starting with students and host NPOs. Ninth-terms participants were congratulated on their beginning the program and eight-term participants were congratulated on their finishing the program. During the start-up seminar, Japan NPO Center Secretary General Yoshifumi Tajiri gave a lecture for the benefit of students about to start the program. During the completion ceremony, Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nissan Itaru Koeda gave words of encouragement to the scholarship students, and presented the eighth-term participants with certificates of completion.

As part of the completion ceremony, Makiko Nakayama, Taichi Dobashi, and Yukako Kato, who participated in activities at the Association of National Trusts in Japan, World Vision Japan, and the Takarazuka NPO Center, respectively, represented the eighth term participants by speaking on their experiences in the program, and each of their speeches were met with a thunderous applause from the audience. (These speeches are printed on the following pages.)

Following the completion ceremony, a social gathering was held at the Headquarters Gallery. People active in various fields-scholarship students, NPO workers, company employees, and others-had an enjoyable time interacting and engaging in lively conversation.

"Nissan-NPO Learning Scholarship Program"
"Nissan-NPO Learning Scholarship Program" is an internship program that we recruit students who want first-hand experience at an NPO and provide scholarships to the students. Nissan launched this unique program in 1998 in partnership with various NPOs as a way of investing in young people who will shoulder the future. This program is aimed at giving young people opportunities to cultivate their capability to think and act for themselves through their experience as interns at NPOs.
