-Envisioning a harmonious future for our motorized society and the environment-
On September 29, 2005, Nissan employees visited Mouridai Elementary School in Atsugi City near the Nissan Technical Center (NTC) to hold a special lesson and Nissan vehicle demonstration for approximately 120 fifth-grade students. The program was held as part of the school's comprehensive education class for fifth-grade elementary school students. In 2004, employees from the Design Division served as teachers and created models and sketches of future cars together with the children. Program employees from various departments participate in the program to devise fun and realistic lessons for the children. The theme of 2005's program was, "Envisioning a harmonious future for our motorized society and the environment." Nissan employees cooperated with school teachers responsible for the fifth-grade students to create a lesson program spanning approximately four months. |

Lesson: "Cars and my daily life"
Employees used pictures and images and asked students questions throughout this lesson on cars and our daily lives. The children actively raised their hands responded to the questions thrown out by the employees, their eyes shining. |
Surprise at the flexibility of children's minds
Each time, the students prepared extremely well and were very motivated to participate in the lesson. We received various impressions from employees each time regarding the children's attitudes and flexible minds. Here we introduce some of their comments.
- As the children participated in the program, they gradually began to reveal the strength of their interest in cars and the kind of cars they would like to see in the future using words and materials. Participating in the program, I was surprised at the flexibility of the children's minds and once again became keenly aware of the importance of removing bias and thinking flexibly as I carry out my own work.
- I have many opportunities to take the fuel cell vehicle (FCV) and participate in events, but this was my first time doing a demonstration with a group full of children so it was a very new experience for me. Thinking that the children would be customers in ten years naturally filled me with the desire to serve our customers.
- I was moved when I saw the students' positive attitude of seeking to know and think about various things. Usually people do not learn about the existence of the Life care vehicles unless they need too, so I feel very honored that these students, who are at an age when they are full of curiosity, studied about it.
- When I interacted with the fifth-grade elementary students this time I was surprised at how much information they had collected for their research presentations. I felt once again how important it is for Nissan to proactively disseminate information on people, cars, and traffic environments and work together with customers to create a society with a safe traffic environment.
